Fwd: [opensuse-marketing] PDF posters
Hi Andreas, I already added the posters here: http://en.opensuse.org/openSUSE:Artwork_miscellaneous I could add the slides to http://en.opensuse.org/openSUSE:Presentations, but I don't think they're fit for presentations because they've got too much text on them, which takes away a lot of attention from the speaker. I modeled them to be the sort of slides that you might take a look at when you're passing by a booth. That's my opinion - of course you're free to use them how you want. :-) Cheers, Pieter 2011/2/15 Andreas Jaeger <aj@novell.com>

Hi everyone,
A few weeks ago, I shared drafts of some openSUSE posters I made. I finalized the posters tonight.
I've made a total of six posters on various subjects: - openSUSE's stable/tumbleweed repositories - The community - YaST - The fact that openSUSE lets you choose KDE or GNOME during setup - Driver installs (or the lack thereof) - SUSE Studio: roll your own Linux distribution
I've zipped up all posters and you can download 'em here: http://www.box.net/shared/hxllbeglvc
Helen asked me if I wanted to make some slides for SCALE, so I made 16:9 widescreen versions of these posters. You can get the slides here: http://www.box.net/shared/mhcya0t2p9
@Kostas: Here is the source of one of the posters. Can you test if you can open it (with correct fonts and images)? If so, I'll upload the other five posters so that you can translate them to Greek. http://www.box.net/shared/hfmvz1dxeu
I've added myself to the marketing mailing list, so hopefully I won't miss any replies now.
I propose to add links to these to the openSUSE wiki, so that others can find and use it. I guess it should be added to http://en.opensuse.org/openSUSE:Presentations
Pieter, could you do this, please?
thanks a lot for these nice posters!

you're entirely right, the slides belong somewhere - exactly in the place you put them: Slideshow for booths :D I would like to put them in git*, how about you getting access so you can update them if/when you like? * https://gitorious.org/opensuse-artwork/opensuse- artwork/trees/master/slides The licensing IS a bit of an issue - it's really helpful if we are able to translate flyers etc and for that, artwork needs to be GPL like and come with sources... Any way we can convince you to release the source? (I would use it to at least produce Spanish and Portugese versions, I know the greeks already have it in their language. But it also makes it possible for us to update this in the future...)

We don't have it translated due to some problems with the source files but anyway we got them printed and they got a lot of peoples attention. It is some great piece of artwork and definitely we could use it globally. Kostas

Hi all,
I would like to put them in git*, how about you getting access so you can update them if/when you like? Yes, I'd like that! :-) I will fix the sources and add them to the repository for translation as soon as I have some time. That may take a couple of weeks, I'm afraid.
The licensing IS a bit of an issue - it's really helpful if we are able to translate flyers etc and for that, artwork needs to be GPL like and come with sources... Any way we can convince you to release the source? I've already released the sources. The Box.net link must be somewhere on the mailing list, but I'll put the fixed sources in the Git repo when I have the time. As for the licensing: I've included a text file in the posters/slides ZIP that collects the licensing information, but I don't know if the material's licenses are compatible with the GPL license. Is there an intellectual property expert in the room?
We don't have it translated due to some problems with the source files Are you unable to open them or does the source render incorrectly on your computer? I'll look into it when my work load quiets down.
