I have a couple of questions for you: * What have you done already for openSUSE?
Well, to begin with, I don’t write nor speak English well; consequently, I use a lot English translators to get things done. I have been the organizer and speaker for events promoted by the openSUSE Community in El Salvador. During the events, I have talked to 50 to 100 people presenting openSUSE as one of the best distribution of Linux. The events close by giving away DVDs and Live-CDs to all participants.

I also work hard helping the members of the openSUSE Community in my country through the internal email list that we have (http://groups.google.com/group/opensusesv?hl=es?hl=es&pli=1)
I have been participating more in the opensuse-es list, as well as helping with translation of the distribution.
* What are your plans for promoting openSUSE? My main plan is to continue promoting the distribution of openSUSE in events such as talks, conferences, community meetings and email listings.
* Are you ready to start promoting openSUSE? Yes, I am.
* What do you think is the best kept secret of openSUSE? I don’t quite understand the question, but I could say that I like openSUSE because it is not closed, that is, it allows you freedom to work as an advanced user or as a user with little knowledge of the operating system.
* Why do you love to do this? I like to help others in Free Software and why not do it using an excellent operating system such as this one.
* How did you start with with Linux/openSUSE? What is your level of experience? I started with Linux/openSUSE by putting together the openSUSE Community in El Salvador with a small group of Salvadorans around the year 2006. I have an experience of around 4 years with openSUSE, but in general terms with other operating systems, I have more than 10 years.
The ambassador program is currently pretty informal and we expect the ambassadors to organize themselves. So, please coordinate with other ambassadors on the opensuse-marketing mailing list: * share with them what you like to do * share what you did, e.g. what kind of event did you organize, how many people joined * share what you learned, explain what was great at your event, what you want to improve * create material that is usefull for you and other ambassadors as well
Also, as an ambassador, you're the expert on your country/region, so please share on the opensuse-marketing mailing list a bit about the openSUSE and the FOSS community in your country/region, e.g. what are their needs.
I'd like to send your answers to the opensuse-marketing list and thus introduce you as new ambassador. Please keep this in mind when answering and if you don't agree, please tell me!
For adding you to the ambassador list at http://wiki.opensuse.org/openSUSE:Ambassadors_list, please tell me: your country, region/city and your user page in the wiki.

Welcome to the openSUSE Ambassadors Program, Jose Roberto.
Thank you for considering spread the openSUSE out to El Salvador.
Despite the distance we talk the same language and we should setup a cooperation bridge between our countries to increase the openSUSE mindshare and support.
As far as I assume we are looking to increase the openSUSE visibility in our region (Latin America) and recruit potential contributors and developers to the openSUSE Project.
Best wishes,
-- Ricardo Chung | openSUSE Linux Ambassador
