Hi @Weekly Newsletter Team Guys, I want to make a proposal for the future Weekly Newsletter schedule. Step 1. Deadline: Wednesday 21:00(UTC) Responsible Person(s): Main/en editors To Do: - Put the Draft of the upcoming issue to the Wiki, if possible. - Continue their work on editing. Step 2. Deadline: - Responsible Person(s): Translators To Do: - Start translating, if possible. Step 3. Deadline: Thursday 21:00(UTC) Responsible Person(s): Main/en editors To Do: - Complete editing the Main/en issue. - Set "ready" table on the Wiki. - Post the "translation ready" announcement and the changelog since the draft (at step 1) to the -marketing list. - If the editing is not finished, post the schedule for completion to the -marketing list instead, and continue their work on editing. Step 4. # Skip this step if the Main/en issue is completed until Thursday # 21:00(UTC) Deadline: - Responsible Person(s): Main/en editors To Do: - Post the "translation ready" announcement and the changelog since the draft (at step 1) to the -marketing list as soon as editing is finished. Step 5. Deadline: Friday 21:00(UTC) Responsible Person(s): Translators To Do: - Complete translating and put the translated issue on their Wiki. - Report the status to the“ready”table. - If translation is delayed, put the template for "NotTranslated" (see: http://en.opensuse.org/OpenSUSE_Translation_Guide#Templates ) on their Wiki at least [1] and continue translating. Step 6. Deadline: Friday 21:00(UTC) Responsible Person(s): Main/en editors To Do: - Check the status in the“ready”table. - Post the "Now out!" announcement to the opensuse and -announce lists anyway.[2] Step 7. Deadline: - Responsible Person(s): Translators To Do: - After the translated issue is ready, post the "Now out!" announcement in their language to their own list.[3] [1] Translators are responsible for that. If they can't do so, they should ask someone - may be Weekly Newsletter team - to do so in their place. [2] Anyway, the newest issue will be published in weekend without waiting for completion of translating. [3] I know translators have their own jobs or schedules and sometimes cannot start translating soon. They should not be blamed for that. But the translated issues are not for the people who can read English issue with no difficulty. They don't need to wait for completion of translating. So, the Main/en issue should be published as soon as possible. If some translations are delayed, translators for those languages can post the "Now out!" announcements in their language to their own list *after* the translations are ready. This is just my proposal and any opinions are welcome. Sorry for my broken English and hope you can understand what I want to explain.
