[opensuse-marketing] so what's Jos up to...

Heya all, Just to let you know what's going on with the interviews: Got feedback from Thijs (speaker I interviewed) that the interview is OK so RIGHT NOW uploading to blip.tv, youtube follows later. Finished editing the video of Bas vd Abel, asked him for feedback. Will edit the video of Georg Greve tomorrow. Should all be in time (JUST in time) for a nice article on Thursday... The article itself can still use some editing and I especially hope the interview with Shane will be done in time (hint hint!) On a related note, I said I'd take care of communication to the conference participants. Will is going to help a bit with promo tasks, so I asked him to prepare a nice, energetic mail about adding lightning talks and BoF sessions by conf participants. I also prepared 4-5 other mails for conf participants and speakers. [opensuse-marketing] promoDVD's shipping stop until after oSC

Hi folks, We're receiving quite some orders for promo DVD's and that is cool. But unfortunately we're extremely busy with the openSUSE conference and that has priority. So, until after the conference on Oct 20-23, we will not be able to process shipping requests for DVD's and other promo materials. After the conf we'll get to it as quickly as we can, OK? [opensuse-marketing] interviews and other scheduling things

Heya folks, Thanks to way too many hours Friday, this weekend and today, I managed to finish editing 3 interviews. Two of them are already on-line, go and spread the word please! Thanks to the awesome writing of Helen, I could publish an article with embedded those video's as well as the interview with Stathis (that Helen did!) and more without having to, well, skip sleeping :D So hugs to Helen - girl, I hope some day we can meet again... I need to organize a new marketing meeting, don't I ;-) Anyway, we have some other things that need to go out and these should, ideally, also get some translation to cz. The article that just went out on news.o.o can, if possible, also be translated and shared of course but for the coming articles we really need to try and get that done. So, I tried to make a bit of a plan for this week. *October 9* Tomorrow, we should publish the party schedule. If possible, I will add to that the announcement of the two Round Tables for the Future Media track. *October 10* On Wednesday, we will announce the sponsors of the event. *October 11* Thursday I hope to do part two of the interviews. This will at least have video interviews with Thijs de Vries and Bas van Abel as well as a text interview with Shane (if he answers Helen in time) so that will be mostly about the Future Media track. It'd be great if Athanasios-Ilias Rousinopoulos can get the answers from Roca by then (just tell him to keep it short, dude!) and I'll also try to work in what I received from Lydia Pintscher. It'll be a great article by then, both in terms of size as well as content :D Maybe we can do something more later on but I think this week is most important to beat the drum on our program: we need to get people to register and all that! IF there is anything else to announce, please, PLEASE let me know. I'll try to keep a decent plan... Any other input and help is VERY much welcome. [opensuse-marketing] Promo material stock questions

Hi all, in preparation to a small forums meet-up of opensuse-forum.de I'm putting together a list of things to get for it and stumbled across some questions meanwhile. First: When will openSUSE 12.2 Promo-DVDs earliest be available? The meeting is scheduled for the last September weekend (28 to 30.09.) and it would be a certain nice to have them by then. If that is not possible I'll order them later on seperately from the other items. Second: Is all on this list currently available: - 600 DVDs - 600 stickers (one sticker per DVD) - 400 flyers - 200 small posters (the ones with the calendars on the backside, guess there will be new ones for 2013) - 100 big posters - 20 t-shirts for attendees Third: Are there different T-Shirt sizes? If so I'll have to ask those who already confirmed their attendance what sizes they need. Fourth: Is it possible to get hands on some old toad? [opensuse-marketing] Interviews with speakers from oSC Future Media track

Heya folks, At the openSUSE Conference we have a 'specia' track about the effects of modern Media on our life - think about the risks of not owning your data in the cloud (and what is done against that by awesome people building Free networks and open cloud software), the benefits open source can bring (using open source technology and methods for disaster relief), and more. These things are very interesting and it is valuable to tell people about it and persuade them to visit the conference! A good way of doing that is by doing a few interviews with these speakers. You can find the list of speakers on http://bootstrapping-awesome.org/schedule/ and I have contact details of all of them. As questions, the following would suffice: - tell us about yourself - what will you talk about - How did you get involved with that and why do you care about it so much, why does it matter? - what do you have to say to the (potential) visitors of the conference, what would you say is your message? I need someone to help me with this. It is easy: all you have to do is mail these folks (I'll give you their addresses), ask them if they ware OK doing an interview, if Ok send the questions, collect the answers, maybe do a bit of back-and-forth if things are unclear, and put it all in 1 or a few articles with me. If you're up for it, you COULD do one or all of the interviews by skype or Google hangout. That is very cool - although you might want to record them to not miss anything :D Upside: you not only get to help openSUSE and do a bit of writing with someone who has some experience, but you also get to chat with these very interesting folks! Dunno if anyone else here gets skull crushing visions from 'The Powers that Be', I sure don't - I don't think there is anyone who can answer that question I am afraid. However if the demo works it will be up to the website owners to accept merge requests to enable this functionality. They will only do that if they feel it's worth it - as they will have to maintain it in the future. As they don't seem like feeling responding here, I have no idea if they will. That is in part why I suggested to create a demo site of say open- build-service.org - if that works satisfactory, the owners of that site (that'd be Adrian & the rest of the OBS team, I suppose) might like it and be willing to adopt it. Unless someone does it, it isn't gonna happen. We've got shepherders plenty, but no sheep interested in doing it until someone has shown it's worth doing. That's what I suggested doing... If you've implemented this and it is accepted by the website admins, that means they are convinced of the value.
