The two german Linux-magazines "PCWELT Linux" and "Linux intern" published some specials about openSUSE 11.4 PCWL delivers oS 11.4 KDE live in their DVD and an article about the new release plus Workshop for installation. http://www.pcwelt.de/news/Neues-Sonderheft-PC-WELT-LINUX-2-2011-mit-10-Dist… Linux intern delivers an Ubuntu & openSUSE special, and called the two distros the most popular in Germany. They also delivers /two/ DVDs instead of one as usual, with oS 11.4 DVD, and oS 11.4 KDE live. Report from EL/LAK Conference (Thessaloniki,Greece,22/05/2011) As an openSUSE Ambassador, I 'm very happy to report for another time what took place in the conference. So the conference lasted 1 day The Day : Booth and Presentation We set up the booth as an openSUSE Community. All the related stuff (about Medical and openSUSE) was available around the booth. Furthermore me and Stathis Iosifidis informed people about the openSUSE Project and openSUSE Medical Project as well as the applications which are available via the openSUSE Medical Distro. Efstathios Agrapidis also made an introductory presentation about OBS. The presentation rolled out smoothly. Although there wasn't enough time to answer questions, the audience showed their interest by coming later to the booth asking for more details; not only about the platform and the infrastracture itself, but also about packaging generally. I would like to note that we informed the people about: * openEMR * GNUMed * FreeMedForms * FreeDiams * TEMPO * Plasmoid Glucose Booth helpers : Efstathios Agrapidis, Vasilis openSUSE Ambassadors : Rousinopoulos Athanasios-Ilias , Efstathios Iosifidis Presentations : Efstathios Agrapidis ("Introduction to OBS") * Event Details : 22 Μαΐου 2011 Q : How many DVDs taken and distributed? This year it's in Strasbourg, near the german frontier. I know, I know. The title must be weird. Do we do more than OBS and Tumbleweed? Actually, yes, we DO! Recent examples include us joining world IPv6 day, the kernel.opensuse.org page and there are a bunch of android apps too :D I would say it's worth pointing this out to people once in a while. AJ agreed but he doesn't like writing so tasked me to do it ;-) Now I need some other ideas besides what I mentioned - some cool stuff being done in openSUSE. Just fire ideas away! Anything goes :D Help in writing and/or reviewing would of course be appreciated... :D

Orz............ At GNOME.Asia 2011, we use GNOME3 with openSUSE iso ( http://www.gnome3.org/tryit.html ), and isohybird command to create usb linux for people. Just two simple steps. Step 1: # isohybrid xxxopenSUSExxx.iso ( isohybird command is include in syslinux package) Step2: # cat xxxxopenSUSExxx.iso > /dev/sdx ( /dev/sdx is the usb device) ----------------------- May ---------------------------------- I teach my student openSUSE linux and use some open source application this year.
