[opensuse-marketing] Today's meeting and tomorrow's Check-In

Due to spotty internet and no port throughpass for IRC I am unable to attend today's meeting. Please go ahead and have a meeting and cover/discuss all general marketing topics as you see fit including the status of 12.1 Release, Ambassador plans, upcoming events, etc. I will be back in Chicago tonight and will be able to attend tomorrow's Check-In for 12.1. We will be joined by members of the openSUSEBoosters Team and combining with their 12.1 Sprint plans, thus becoming more effective in our efforts to make 12.1 Release a successful one. Please prepare for the Check-In with updates on what you are doing to prepare for 12.1 Release. This includes letting us know, as a team where you are on items you are workikng on and whether they are complete or if you need more asssistance, feedback or if you have completed your tasks. We won't be successful if we don't communicate to each other how we are doing and include collaboration with others where we can get good feedback on our current items. I just want to let everyone know that the Southern California Linux Expo (SCALE) is having a contest to "Design a logo for SCALE 10X, win a trip to LA!" In other words they if you can make a cool SCALE 10X logo and they like it, they will pay for you to go to SCALE. [opensuse-marketing] 12.1 Marketing Check-Ins begin this week!

Hey Folks, In the last monthly marketing meeting, we agreed that we want to create a weekly "Check-In" gathering. Simply put, it is a time of week when everyone can show up and just see how we are progressing with openSUSE 12.1 marketing campaign. It is *not* a formal meeting and should *not* replace continued discussions on our Mailing List. It is more of a chance when we can gather and talk live with each other and just bring up whatever we are working on and get feedback and collaborate some ideas. (Pretend this is your weekly gathering at Starbucks!) The team agreed to do this every week on Wednesdays at 14:00 UTC in our #opensuse-marketing IRC channel. Keep up the good work folks and let's keep the fire rolling! 12.1 is soon upon us! Hello All, I was wondering if anyone is going to OpenRheinRuhr this year. I have seen openSUSE presence there before but was wondering if anyone will be there this year. This is quite a small, but growing event, so most presentations and questions will be in German. It will take place in just about a month: Saturday November 12th, and Sunday 13th, 2011. Heya all, The openSUSE presentation slides have been updated with the openSUSE 12.1 artwork. If you want to give a presentation about openSUSE, find slides & a template you can use here: https://gitorious.org/opensuse-artwork/opensuse-artwork/trees/master/slides You probably will have to 'clone' the repository to your hard drive because gitorious does not let you download files bigger than 2 MB. You can do that by installing git (zypper in git) and running the following command in a newly created directory: git clone git://gitorious.org/opensuse-artwork/opensuse-artwork.git opensuse-artwork cd opensuse-artwork/slides Please note that the slides have 'notes' which help you with what to talk about when showing the slides. There is a new slide deck about openQA, our upcoming 1.0 automated testing framework (see openqa.opensuse.org). openQA will be released next week, Tuesday! If you have any suggestions for changes or improvements to the slides, please let me know. I can also upload translated slides so please send those to me! [opensuse-marketing] 12.1 Presentation Template Available

Hi All, I've created and uploaded a presentation template based on the 12.1 artwork It is available in our -artwork gitorious repo, in the slides folder Or directly for download from https://gitorious.org/opensuse-artwork/opensuse-artwork/blobs/master/slides… (ODP) and https://gitorious.org/opensuse-artwork/opensuse-artwork/blobs/master/slides… (OTP) The template includes many variations of shade (morning/day/night), with versions optimised for Title/Slideshow pages, and others with a nice bright area for traditional presentation content. It also includes versions without 12.1's 'smoke ribbon' The hope is that whatever you want for your 12.1 based presentation, I hope you can find something to get you started here One neat trick I've noticed, creating an automated slideshow with 'Fade Smoothly' transitions between a morning/night/day selection of wallpapers has a cool effect, much like the gnome dynamic wallpaper.
