[opensuse-marketing] promote oSC successes!

Dear marketing team! PLEASE help us get the message out on the successful openSUSE conference. We need to make sure that articles like the one below: http://www.itworld.com/open-source/125538/opensuse-conference-a-time- introspection do not come up again! Help us promote this. Submit it to your local and to international websites and magazines. I wrote a little piece you could use as a short intro: Last week the openSUSE conference happened in Nuremberg, Germany. Instead of deciding to fork a major desktop, the conference focused on 'collaboration across borders' and the results are showing. Fedora visitors worked with openSUSE developers to integrate systemd and dracut in openSUSE 11.4, LibreOffice held their first conference track, project Bretzn (let's make developers' life easier) was announced and it became known that Mageia discusses use of the openSUSE Build Service. http://news.opensuse.org/2010/10/28/opensuse-conference-big-success/ Send this to sites like linux.com, heise.de etcetera. Okay folks, time to gear up for another team meeting. Our next team meeting will be in the #openSUSE-Marketing Channel on Freenode IRC at 16:00 UTC 02-November-2010. (That's an hour later than usual for us in America, to accomodate the nw time change in Europe and South America this week.) At the recent openSUSE Conference in Nurnberg, we had a Marketing Team BoF and listed what we consider to be the priorities of the Marketing Team. Let's use this upcoming meeting to review those priorities globally and identify how we can address those priorities in a sensible manner. See you soon! [opensuse-marketing] openSUSE summer camp

It's an old idea that I had,not for openSUSE but for a Balkan Lug camp or something like that, but finally nothing happened because of other things that came up. Now I am reading all my emails I took the past 10 days and I read somewhere something about a summer camp and I remembered I had something like that well organized on paper. I understand most of you might be confused of what you read so far on that e-mail so let me take you to the start PROJECT: openSUSE Summer Camp (or however we want to name it) PURPOSE: People from many sectors of the openSUSE project and other related projects to gather and exchange ideas, partying, make camping and enjoy the Sea. PLACE: Somewhere in Greece That is general idea,there are many problems in order to make this happen but one way or the other I know we can find solutions.The things we can organize around it are practically endless, speeches and workshops in the mornings, tours in noon and party and concerts in the night. I have some kind of expertise on that kind of gatherings since I helped organize two camps for bikers but every time is different so... Anyway please let me know what do you thing of that. [opensuse-marketing] SCALE CFP now open.

Folks, SCALE (Southern California Linux Expo) Call for Papers is now open until December 13, 2010. SCALE will be in Los Angeles February 25-27, 2011. I would encourage anyone interested in giving talks about openSUSE to submit their papers to this event. There's lots to talk about openSUSE, so don't be shy! Here's the link. http://www.socallinuxexpo.org/scale9x/blog/scale-9x-call-papers Also of interesting notice is that SCALE will offer tutorial sessions as well. A suggestion for any OBS experts out there, perhaps we can organize a tutorial session showing how to use OBS to package for different distros, and not just openSUSE? At some point in the coming months, we'll also see about setting up an openSUSE booth and will welcome volunteers to support the booth.
