LXDE : status report
Hi people.. i'm here to give you some informations... but let's begin 1st) openSUSE 11.3 Milestone2 has been released and you can install LXDE from DVD or net install. If you need screenshots of the installation work flow you'll find them at http://en.opensuse.org/LXDE 2nd) menu-cache has been upgraded as well lxpanel, they should me now a bit faster 3rd) pcmanfm renamed pcmanfm-legacy Upstream we are working on pcmanfm2 that will be the next generation lxde file manager. pcmanfm "old" project has been already dropped, no more energy will be used there, and the package has been renamed even upstream as pcmanfm-legacy for that reason, we'll soon move to pcmanfm2 as main file manager.. i'm just waiting factory to switch to gcc 4.5. that change will be done by default, without you need to care.. if you don't want help us testing, or you don't feel ready you'll simply have to comment/uncomment on /etc/xdg/lxsession/LXDE/autostart Best regards Andrea -- ------------------------------------------ Andrea Florio QSI International School of Brindisi Sys Admin CISCO CCNA Certified openSUSE-Education Administrator openSUSE Official Member (anubisg1) Email: andrea@opensuse.org Packman Packaging Team Email: andrea@links2linux.de Web: http://packman.links2linux.org/ Cell: +39-328-7365667 ------------------------------------------ -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-lxde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-lxde+help@opensuse.org
I think it is great the way PCManFM2 is shaping up! I prefer it to Thunar and I LOVE Thunar. I do think that there will be any complaints about the move. I do wish there was some graphical love for the default LXDE backgrounds in OpenSUSE. Fedora has done a very good job making it look Fedroa and I would like to see OpenSUSE show the same look and feel. -Marc -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-lxde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-lxde+help@opensuse.org

i hope so... there are some bugs, but that change is going to be done because more users means more testing and then more bug reports. Pcmanfm2 is really usable any way, so there shouldn't be much problems

i tought i did some nice job with it, lxde-common and lxde-common-branding-openSUSE provides most of the work.. if that is not enought please, feel free to work on artworks. They will be easly included on such packages.. look & feel is one of the most important goals... we don't want to provide only a lightweight DE, but also, the most stable, better packaged, and nicer DE than other distro... Your help is the base.. i can't do all the work (almost) alone, since i never worked with graphics..
