Note, however, that there where unexpected issues with the changes mentioned by Syds. Unfortunately, this is software, and in software, bugs happen. :-P
I am all too familiar with that working as a developer... I guess there will be some sort of announcement when it reaches beta?
With all those changes, it would be good to start fresh indeed. It's bad to ask that to users, we know, but after all that's why MicroOS Desktop was considered ALPHA... and I guess stuff like that can happen with ALPHA software, can't they?
I would say yes!
It is all about setting the right expectations. Both the alpha label and
the general messaging have set expectations that this is new exciting
stuff, but stability in terms of features and issues will be low for a
while.
I am just happy that things are happening with the project even though I
have not gotten around to actually contribute.

Wow! That is really awesome to hear.
Indeed! :-)
I tried out Micro OS Desktop as an experiment, but it has ruined me. Having a large mutable root where I will slip up an install more an more stuff feels dirty to me now.
Right? I feel exactly the same!!
But there is still a lot to do, nice to see progress!
Hehe! :-D

AFAIK, they're being looked at and will hopefully be fixed soon.
I will try out all the new changes and see if it fixes the issue. Otherwise maybe it is time for a nuke and pave to get the new stuff cleanly.

With all the new changes --when working-- we're be in BETA, which hopefully will be more "stable", in terms of fundamental architectural changes requiring reinstall not happening (but never say never! :-P)
Anyway, I definitely suggest to wait until the bugs are gone, before reinstalling.
