Well, it did cost me about 4h and a lot of mental question marks because I changed mount point configuration in /etc/fstab and reboots failed because the mount points conflicted with the entries in the file /etc/fstab.sys and I wasn't even aware of the existance nor the idea behind /etc/fstab.sys :) So it's not just cosmetic unless there is any kind of documentation that clearly explains that /etc/fstab.sys is a thing
