I've noticed that the transactional-update cleanup-overlays isn't removing the folders of unused /etc overlay directories in /var/lib/overlay After many updates, this causes a large number of empty folders to appear there. As an improvement, I suggest that the cleaning mechanism for the overlays also deletes the empty folders.
