Kernel developers,
I've seen some requests for a workshop (see $subject) for the openSUSE conference. Are there any volunteers?
Details on how to submit a proposal: http://news.opensuse.org/2011/06/02/opensuse-conference-cfp-going-strong/
You can also submit other proposals that you like!

That's a rather broad topic. You can spend days on this ;) I could speak about some of this in kernel space but I'm not sure about audience - I guess general people would not be interested in debugging kernel oopses or performance issues in IO scheduler or memory management?

.oO( I would. Hm, maybe I'm not general people. Wait a minute... )
How many general people go to a linux conference?

OK, +1 to the number of interested people ;)
How many general people go to a linux conference?
OK, I should have said general Linux audience. But thinking about it reasonable topics for 40 minutes could be: Tracing IO in Linux kernel - blktrace and some basics how to understand what it says Linux kernel tracing - using function traces, kernel trace points, performance counters... Setting up and analyzing kernel crash dump
The question is what will be more interesting to the people coming.

Kernel (and userspace) debugging with systemtap.
Setting up and analyzing kernel crash dump
Yeah, that sounds good and useful, too. I can probably do that workshops / presentations. I'll get this submitted by our marketing folks (not sure if I will actually be doing it or a coworker).
Maybe if more people are trying to use crashdump, someone will actually work on making it work :-P
The question is what will be more interesting to the people coming.
Or the other way round: what will make more people come :-)

Cool!

Please tell Martina to finally submit your proposals ;)

Definitely very interesting for me!
Linux kernel tracing - using function traces, kernel trace points, performance counters...
I'd be very interested in some introductory talk about 'perf' tool.

Two listeners! Great! One more and a criterion for having a lecture at my alma mater is satisfied ;) OK, I'll send some proposal for the workshop.

Probably I'll have this one - some introduction + demonstration on one/two real-world bugs.

Warning, I only said I'd find the topic interesting, which is meant to address how likely people in general may find it interesting, not that I personally will actually be at this conference and thus be a listener.
sowry ;)

How about asking on opensuse-project@ (or a more specific lists if there is one for the conference that escapes me)?
(Personally I'd be interested in any of the options you listed. :-)

Let's figure out together what'S best.
We will have at the combined SUSE Labs and openSUSE conference users and developers. So, state in your proposal your audience and speak about what you know.
We could also have more than one session - in any case, I'm asking for proposals, the program committee has the final say about the program,
Thanks Andreas
