One Client of us has written, that his Notebook hangs on:
Mounting devpts at /dev/pts done
/etc/init.d/boot.startpreload: line 44: staprun: command not found
Starting udevd: done
Loading drivers, configuring devices: [5.978302] ACPI: I/O resource
0000:00:1f.3 [0x1c00-0x1c1f] conflicts with ACPI region SMBI
What kernel version is this?
This looks like a broken BIOS, have they tried to update it?
No, the above message doesn't imply that the BIOS is broken. All it
says is that the ACPI BIOS has reserved the SMBus for its own use and
the OS can't use it. This is totally OK.
Depending on the kernel version they are running, I may be able to
suggest a boot option they can try.
And is this the 64 or 32bit kernel? Have they tried
the other one from
what they are using?
