Back in January there was a talk on this mailing
adding a new kernel flavor to follow upstream
A quick look at the upcoming release packages, shows me
that such kernel is not there.
I personally would appreciate such kernel very much because
I have 4 different kind of devices for which kernel 4.4
has problems but newer kernel fixed the issue.
Is there still some hope to see such kernel flavor in 42.3?
Kernel:Stable follows upstream fairly closely. E.g., I'm currently using
4.12.0, rev gae25ff8; working fine here with 42.2 & 42.3/prerelease
not for Xen Dom0 -- but that's a different issue ...)
Is there something specific you're looking for that that repo's builds
No. I myself use Kernel:Stable when necessary.
But may be an average user can find easyer to
have that latest kernel available in the main repo.
With the tons of backport in terms of drivers that are present in 4.4 series
in 42.3 I would first check if it's not included first.
42.3 is almost ready for production use. So giving it a try would be easy.
