[Bug 1188421] Kernel crash immediately after y2controlcenter crashes with GPU
http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1188421 http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1188421#c3 --- Comment #3 from Kevin Donovan <kdonovan@mailbox.org> --- I should have reported this as a kernel bug, not a yast bug. It happened in yast this time, but it can happen anywhere. Although I'm a longtime Linux user and programmer, I was not familiar with kernel crash logs. I researched how to do so, and my system should be configured to produce kernel crash dumps (using kdump) starting with my next reboot. If and when the kernel freezes again, as it probably will, I think it would probably be better to report it to the kernel bugzilla rather than Opensuse. I can update this bug report at that time. A little more information. I have an AMD Ryzen 7 2700 Eight-Core Processor, with a Realtek Bluetooth device. As I mentioned before, the lockups usually occur when I'm listening to audio via a Bluetooth connection. I thought only recent kernels had the bug. To test this, I compiled the latest LTS kernel, 5.10.50, and booted it into Tumbleweed. I continued to use Bluetooth. The system locked up after less than a day, so my hunch was wrong. I am now running Tumbleweed with the latest kernel. I have disabled Bluetooth, and I will see if the crash recurs or not. If it does not crash, I'll reboot, with Bluetooth enabled. This time, when the kernel locks up, I should be able to generate a crash dump. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.
