Thanks. It showed the same error, and the downstream patch didn't help in this regard, unfortunately. For fixing further this in the kernel, you need to report the issue to the upstream bug tracker, e.g. bugzilla.kernel.org, so that the upstream devs can work on it. But I'm afraid that it won't be addressed soon enough, as the bug is very specific to the machine. And, it's possibly a bug of the touchpad device firmware. Often you can upgrade the firmware, but it might need Windows. Last but not least, after suspend/resume and the dead touchpad, try the following on a terminal (as root): modprobe -r rmi_smbus modprobe rmi_smbus It might revive the touchpad.
