Let me summarize the situation. These combination here all
perform well:

 - TW (that means upstream too)
 - openSUSE 15.2 
 - openSUSE 15.3 with reverted

Looking at the patch, this means we do not set bd_block_size correctly
for your device. Upstream seems to have a bug fix for this. Maybe Hannes
has a clue which one is missing.
