Comment # 22 on bug 1206767 from Dave Plater

Running make in the top src directory of rtl8723de_new doesn't produce a module
and I'm not confident that this is going to change anything.
Something in the 6.1.0 and up kernels doesn't play nicely with the combination
of the rtw(88)_8723de driver and NetworkManager. I bought the HP laptop because
I thought HP cared about Linux and updated it to Tumbleweed to enable the wifi
to work because the module wouldn't build with the then current Leap kernel.
Now it's time to downgrade not only because of this bug but also the change in
behavior of midnight commander where it only exits into the directory it was
started in instead of the directory you've navigated to.
