While working on reproducible builds for openSUSE, I found that our kernel-obs-build package varied between builds. one part is +++ new/.build.initrd.kvm.cpio.extract/etc/shadow @@ -1 +1 @@ -root:*:18110:::::: +root:*:23621:::::: and the other part is timestamps and inode-numbers in cpio metadata that are ignored by build-compare, but prevent producing bit-identical rpms
