For Nvidia or such that needs a build of modules afterwards, yes, but currently
kernel-default.rpm itself could be used on Leap until now.

Right, this has to be clarified publicly in wider audience.  The
incompatibility also includes the all firmware packages and KMPs.

It's a challenge how to provide KMPs for Leap with the latest stable kernel,
though; we might need to set up OBS Kernel:stable:Backport:KMP for a collection
of KMPs to be built with Kernel:stable:Backport.
