Thanks for looking at this Jan.

I looked at the vmware website but it seems that support is for people using
the paid version and I use the free workstation player.   I updating the
communities link that I shared above with your information to help others but I
am not hopeful that vmware will actually take action.

I have considered switching to KVM or virtualbox but was not sure how stable
they are with Tumbleweed and whether they get broken from time to time like
vmware does with new kernel versions.

When that happens with vmware I am able to recompile the modules or worst case
switch back to an old kernel.

Any thoughts on whether kvm or virtualbox would be a better option with better
support?
