[Bug 1239778] New: nf_tables module may be missing patches to allow loading of long ruleset

Bug ID: 1239778
Summary: nf_tables module may be missing patches to allow
loading of long ruleset
Classification: openSUSE
Product: openSUSE Distribution
Version: Leap 15.6
Hardware: Other
OS: Other
Status: NEW
Severity: Normal
Priority: P5 - None
Component: Kernel
Assignee: kernel-bugs(a)opensuse.org
Reporter: brunokc(a)kraychete.com
QA Contact: qa-bugs(a)suse.de
Target Milestone: ---
Found By: ---
Blocker: ---
I'm trying to load a nftables ruleset stored in a file (via nft -f <file>) that
creates a set with 94K entries. The beginning of the file looks like this:
add table inet filter
add set inet filter blocklist-ipv4 { type ipv4_addr; flags dynamic; counter;
timeout 30d; size 262144; }
add element inet filter blocklist-ipv4 { a.b.c.d counter packets 64 bytes 3840
}
[...94,000 more 'add element' lines like the above...]
In talking to Pablo Neira Ayuso (head of the netfilter team), he seems to think
the openSUSE 15.6 kernel may be missing a couple of important patches:
> OpenSuSE's 6.4 kernel is very likely missing these two patches:
>
> 3c13725f43dc ("netfilter: nf_tables: bail out if stateful expression provides no .clone")
> fa23e0d4b756 ("netfilter: nf_tables: allow clone callbacks to sleep")
>
> These patches are already available in kernel.org's -stable 6.1 kernels.
Would it be possible to include these patches in the next release of the
openSUSE Leap 15.6 kernel?

Summary: Screen corruption with amdgpu
Classification: openSUSE
Product: openSUSE Tumbleweed
Version: Current
Hardware: Other
OS: Other
Status: NEW
Severity: Major
Priority: P5 - None

Upon upgrading to kernel-firmware-amdgpu-20250219, I am seeing a lot of screen
corruption in X11 when the display changes, such as when scrolling or restoring
windows. The corruption seems to get worse the more the machine is used,
eventually making normal use impossible. Downgrading to
kernel-firmware-amdgpu-20250206 seems to fix the issue.
I'm using Tumbleweed on a ThinkPad T14 with an AMD Ryzen 7 PRO 7840U and
integrated AMD Radeon 780M graphics.

I am seeing following errors with
openSUSE-Tumbleweed-Minimal-Image.aarch64-1.0.0-RaspberryPi-Snapshot20240916.raw.xz
Connection to WiFi AP fails and kernel show these messages continuously.
Similar to bsc#1208900 and bsc#1215134 except that this time wireless-regdb is
installed by default.
What is even more confusing is that
openSUSE-Tumbleweed-ARM-XFCE-raspberrypi.aarch64-2024.09.02-Snapshot20240911.raw.xz
is working fine.
Minimal image have this frimware version:
i+ | kernel-firmware-brcm | package | 20240912-1.1 | noarch |
openSUSE-Tumbleweed-Oss
While XFCE have:
i | kernel-firmware-brcm | package | 20240903-1.1 | noarch | (System
Packages)
Unfortunately downgrading kernel-firmware-brcm did not help.

Making these modules builtin allows booting virtual machines without needing an
initrd, which roughly halves boot time. This is crucial for speeding up
systemd's integration tests which spin up many virtual machines and where
reducing the boot time as much as possible is crucial for making the
integration tests finish in reasonable time.
In Fedora Rawhide and Arch Linux these modules were already made builtin, this
makes the following speedup possible (Fedora Rawhide):
```
➜ systemd git:(mkosi) ✗ time mkosi
--kernel-command-line-extra='systemd.run=true
systemd.run_success_action=poweroff' --runtime-network=none
by bugzilla_noreply@suse.com 01 Apr '25
01 Apr '25
https://bugzilla.suse.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1240163
Bug ID: 1240163
Summary: wrong information in /proc/swaps after using mount
namespace
Classification: openSUSE
Product: openSUSE Tumbleweed
Version: Current
Hardware: Other
OS: Other
Status: NEW
Severity: Normal
Priority: P5 - None
Component: Kernel
Assignee: kernel-bugs(a)opensuse.org
Reporter: aschnell(a)suse.com
QA Contact: qa-bugs(a)suse.de
Target Milestone: ---
Found By: ---
Blocker: ---
When using a mount namespace to activate swap the information in /proc/swaps is
wrong as soon as the namespace goes out of existence:
# unshare --mount swapon /dev/sda3
# cat /proc/swaps
Filename Type Size Used
Priority
/sda3 partition 2098152 0
-2
As long as the namespace exists the information in /proc/swaps in correct.
On a Lenovo P16 Gen2 I see these kernel messages during boot:
kernel: i2c i2c-10: 4/4 memory slots populated (from DMI)
kernel: i2c i2c-10: Memory type 0x22 not supported yet, not instantiating SPD
...
kernel: spi-nor spi0.0: unrecognized JEDEC id bytes: f7 f0 30 09 03 00
...
Would be nice if kernel knew DDR5.
I have an external USB NVME SSD that unexpectedly reports a "Unit Not Ready"
like this:
The device is connected to a Thunderbold 4 port using a Thunderbolt 4 cable.
After re-plugging the device I saw:
So after re-plugging it worked. Maybe the BIOS of the laptop set the device
into the mode it had on boot.
Thanks. Now I'm building a test kernel with the kernel config that is
equivalent with Fedora kernel. It's being built in OBS home:tiwai:bsc1229999
repo. The package will appear later at
https://download.opensuse.org/repositories/home:/tiwai:/bsc1229999/standard/
Please check with this kernel while keeping the rest as is.
