[opensuse-kde] KDE 4.0 LiveCD doesn't boot on my PC
Hi again, I now tested v1.85 and v1.90 on another PC and both boot well there. Now waiting for the next ISOs ;-)) Cheers detlef --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-kde+help@opensuse.org

I'm running out of tarballs ;-(, 1.86 and 1.87 ISOs are up and I don't see 1.88 and 1.89 tarballs ever committed to the build service. Hi Stephan and all, now I've tested most of the ISO's and - BINGO - got the break. It is between version 1.85 and 1.86. The first one does boot while the second does not, no ISOLINUX information etc appears on the screen. So now I wish you good luck in finding the reason for the 'misbehaviour' of the versions 1.86 and above. Hope this helps and soon more people will be able to test the KDE 4.0 LiveCD with openSUSE. Please ask if you need more information about the hardware I tested on. We found a reason and actually the kiwi version is not directly to blame: the boot catalog of the broken ISO is in a sector which fails in few broken BIOS. Something which you can't tell mkisofs but fix with ISO mangling afterwards. Thanks for your help in tracking down this difference of the ISOs! :-) Bye, Steve --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-kde+help@opensuse.org

Hi Steve, thank you for your efforts. The new version 1.0.1 of the KDE 4.0 LiveCD boots well on my PC :-) Cheers Detlef --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-kde+help@opensuse.org
