Re: [suse-kde] Firefox and WMV Files SOLVED
Well, I finally got a chance to get things working better. I went into Control Center and went to the KDE Components > File Associations. There I was able to select several video formats, including WMV files and change the order of apps offered, putting MPlayer on top. Now, when I click on a WMV file, Firefox asks me what to do and offers MPlayer first. did you download the source version ? or the rpm ? if source, then you can uninstall that if you still have the actual source..usig make unistall, and make clean .
However, if you deleted it, it can aslo work by downloading a new one, unpackng, configure then make-uninstall. .thats it

When I attempt to view a WMV file from Firefox, it always starts

that
seems to work with these files, but how do I get Firefox 1.5 to run MPlayer instead of Kaffine when I click the file link?
Get mplayerplug-in (for example from http://packman.links2linux.org) and remove the kaffeine plugin from firefox.
Note that kaffeine may be loaded through the general purpose dragonegg plugin, which allows all sorts of kde things to be embedded into firefox. Not sure how you would disable only kaffeine from that, that plugin doesn't seem to have a whole lot of documentation
