[opensuse-kde] KDE4 KMail and toolbar icon drop-down lists
Hey! I migrated my KDE3 KMail settings to KMail 1.11.1 (KDE 4.2.1 "release 104") by moving the corresponding files to ~/.kde4 and everything seems to work fine now. However, if I press and hold the "Check Mail" icon, there is no drop-down list. The same holds true for the "Reply" and "Forward" icons. Can anyone confirm this problem? I can not confirm. I have the drop down lists when clicking and holding on those buttons. (my 4.2.1 packages are a couple of weeks old though, don't update all the time). I'd be very cautious with moving old settings - especially for the large and complex apps. At least in my experience there's a substantial risk of a lot of very weird little problems - reconfiguring the complex apps from scratch will make you a happier person in the long run imho. This only goes for the settings, the data you should be able to copy without issues. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-kde+help@opensuse.org

Hello, I don't have this problem. When I upgraded from KDE 3 (openSUSE 10.3) to KDE4.2.1 (openSUSE 11.1) I didn't transfer any files, I just imported mailbox in (~/.kde/share/apps/kmail) into Kmail 1.11.1 in KDE4.2.1 Try undoing your changes and then recreate each Receiving account. Then see if your drop-down list for "Check Mail" is still empty. As for the Reply and Forward list, I have no idea. I would have thought those were not bound to your mailbox? Perhaps, after your undo your changes start up kmail and see if they are still empty. In case it makes a difference, I use kmail via kontact. Btw. using Qt 4.5 with KDE 4.2.x springs to mind as another potential cause for weird little issues. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-kde+help@opensuse.org

Can you try a different widget style? I saw this problem with early versions of Oxygen but haven't seen it since. Will -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-kde+help@opensuse.org

D'oh! Looks like I was just too impatient: I have to push the icon for nearly a second. :-$ In addtion, I must not move the mouse pointer away from the icon. I was used to move it down to the expected position in advance. Anyway, many thanks to Martin, Alvin, and Will! I don't seem to be expressing myself clearly...

Hmm, the press on standard menus is registerd correcty. Furthermore, I noticed that not all of these toolbar icon drop-down menus are affected. In Konqueror, the KGet icon shows its menu nearly instantly. Yes it is inconsistent between apps. And if you notice you will also see varying font sizes. One of my pet peeves as I am visually impaired. Really should take a few hours checking these specifically and filing a bug report. I remember you "teeny teeny fonts" thread ...

Okay. But what is the correct term for these "toolbar icon drop-down menu lists"? I want to make sure that it was not reported before. Hmmm... Beats me. They've changed the names of everything. How about Konqueror toolbar icon drop-down menu ? :-) Bob S -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-kde+help@opensuse.org
