Recently i ran YOU and the box locked up totally during download etc of OO.o 2. When I restarted i tried again and it locked up again. Next boot I skipped it and got the other download done. Then the box started locking up and I kept rebooting, but couldn't start kde, or it would start and then lock up. From the cl when I typed startx I got the message: Fatal server error: Cannot move old log file ("/var/log/Xorg.0.log" to "/var/log/Xorg.0.log.old" Please consult the The X.Org Foundation support at http://wiki.X.Org for help. and then xinit: Connection refused (errno 111): unable to connect to X server xinit: No such process (errno 3): Server error. Couldnt get a file descriptor referring to the console Then I ran sax2 successfuly but that didn't help As su i did: gandalf:/home/bob # startx xauth: (stdin):1: bad "add" command line xauth: (stdin):2: bad "add" command line xauth: (stdin):3: bad "add" command line X Window System Version 6.8.2 Release Date: 9 February 2005 X Protocol Version 11, Revision 0, Release 6.8.2 Build Operating System: SuSE Linux [ELF] SuSE Current Operating System: Linux gandalf 2.6.11.4-21.9-default #1 Fri Aug 19 11:58:59 UTC 2005 i686 Build Date: 16 September 2005 Before reporting problems, check http://wiki.X.Org to make sure that you have the latest version. I'm not a power user but if you have a /tmp /.XO-lock file I'd delete that and see if it helps. You should be able to delete anything in /tmp without harming your installation. Chuck Davis On Sunday 13 November 2005 1:25 pm, bob wrote:

Did that. No luck. Bob Rea gapetard@stsams.org

Sounds like premission issue or you don't have enough disk space . Check both. Good luck. On Monday 14 November 2005 04:27, bob wrote:
