Hi Folks!
I've read all the mails and articles about this very annoing subject, to get KDE3 on SuSE 7.3 using antialiased fonts.
So I got the xf86 4.2.0 packages for SuSE 7.3 and the QT3 Packages from SuSE 8.0 (to have QT3 with xft support) and used the actual freetype2 libs from mfabian's homedir to have the bytecode interpreter enabled.
every qtrc (global and user) has the entries: enableXft=true useXft=true
I checked the checkbox in kcontrol for antialiased fonts and made sure, it is enabled in qtconfig (think thats the option in qtrc, too, but I checked it).
But all truetype fonts are still not antialiased.
Does anyone know what I could be still missing now?
Thanks, Daniel
Have you read this:
ftp://ftp.gwdg.de/pub/linux/suse/ftp.suse.com/suse/i386/supplementary/X/XFr ee86/XFree86-4.2.0-SuSE/README
(Could not login into ftp.suse.com, but should be on ftp.suse.com or one of its other mirrors too).
Especially point 5) Antialiasing Support.
Hope This Helps,
Leen
You mean the support for XRender? Yes, I have actual Nvidia drivers which have full XRender support. But I solved the problem. What I needed was a line in /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/XftConfig dir "/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/truetype" That was all (beside the prerequisites stated above). Hope, I could help some people on this list here with my detailed infos. Greets, Daniel
