[opensuse-kde] Stopping XMMS from starting at KDE start
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Hello, I have XMMS running most of the time. And I have it running when shutting down KDE, so next time I start my kde xmms gets started again. I thought I could stop that by using KControl=>KDE components=>Session (I hope i translated not to far from the english names, I use a german KDE here). But no matter what I write into there, xmms gets restarted. The corresponding line is in .kde/share/config/ksmserverrc, named excludeApps= What do I need to put into that line, to stop xmms from starting? I tried xmms CheckHardware "xmms*" xmms --sm-client-id xmms_playlist xmms xmms_player The link starting xmms in the K-Menu says CheckHardware --sound xmms Thanks, OJ - -- I'm not out to destroy Microsoft. That will just be a completely unintentional side effect. Do you have the option in the KDE Session Manager to Start with an empty session? If you do, are you sure you don't have it in the auto start folder (Konqueror->Go->Autostart)? -- Jonathan Arnold (mailto:jdarnold@buddydog.org) Daemon Dancing in the Dark, an Open OS weblog: http://freebsd.amazingdev.com/blog/ UNIX is user-friendly. No, cos I do not want an empty session. I want my normal session except xmms. I thought that is what the Exclude-Thing was for.

Yes, there is no xmms there. That was the first place I looked for. OJ - -- "Also musst du dich jetzt entscheiden, Steve, aber richtig, und vergiß dabei nicht: Des Mannes Hose ist seine Burg." You sound right, but maybe it's called something else, or maybe the compare isn't working right. I'd say to chose the "Restore Manually Saved Session", set up your "normal session", save it and then you'll be okay. -- Jonathan Arnold (mailto:jdarnold@buddydog.org) Daemon Dancing in the Dark, an Open OS weblog: http://freebsd.amazingdev.com/blog/ UNIX is user-friendly. That is what I did not want to do. ;-) I hoped the feature I found would work like it should, and that it would be exact what I was looking for. Is this feature working in your kde-setup? Or is just my kde not working? Would be nice to have some feedback, so one could make a bug report. I have no idea. I've always turned that "feature" off right from the start. Personally, I like having KDE start up in a constant state, so I use the Autostart folder. I do the same in all my apps - I hate the "open the last thing I was working on" option anywhere. -- Jonathan Arnold (mailto:jdarnold@buddydog.org) Daemon Dancing in the Dark, an Open OS weblog: http://freebsd.amazingdev.com/blog/ UNIX is user-friendly. The 'Restore manually saved session' option in KControl->Session Manager is for you then - it adds a 'Save Session' option to the K menu/kickoff that snapshots the apps that are running and window placement, and on next login it is this session that is started, so you don't have to mess with Autostart.
