The authorization dialogue you get it if you use "safe file settings" via Yast in Leap. And

This is actually not the fault of the update applet, but more how the PackageKit daemon is being handled within openSUSE. PackageKit is designed to be always active, but in openSUSE this is conflicting with YaST/Zypper as that the zypper database is locked by PackageKit. Therefore the PackageKit daemon only has a short lifecycle with a certain timeout.
