[opensuse-kde] Plasma 5 windows decorations crash
Hi, I'm using OpenSuse 42.1 with KDE Plasma 5 and some times the windows decorations vanish from the open applications, causing that I can only close them with the menu File->Quit, but I can't move or close the windows, cause the top bar with the minimize, maximize and close buttons vanished. Any similar experience or any help? Regards Lívio Cipriano -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-kde+owner@opensuse.org

Sounds like KWin (the window manager) is crashing as a whole. Hasn't ever happened to me on Leap/Plasma5. You should probably review what changes you might have made (desktop effects, window decoration, kwin scripts, kwin configuration) that could possibly trigger these crashes. And maybe reset it all to default (for example by (re)moving the related configuration files in ~/.config/) And also check ~/.xsession-errors for any hints on what causes the crashes. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-kde+owner@opensuse.org

Press alt+F2 and type: kwin_x11 & replace and press the <enter> key. I find that if the you get crazy screen flickers it can also help out. This will bring back the decorations.
