After upgrading to 3.1 on a 8.0 Pro system I was getting a error on boot saying /tmp/mcop-dbtrol was not owned by me. All else seemed to be working including File Manager Super User Mode. After changing owner to dbtrol the File Manager SUM now comes up and immediately disappears. If I change ownership back to root it works fine. Question is should there be a /tmp/mcop-root directory, Also should there be a root/.mcop which I remember before upgrading. TIA David
You can delete all the KDE related directories under /tmp as well as .mcop* and the 2 tmp files in .kde. After you do this KDE will recreate them when KDE is restarted. Before you delete them please shutdown KDM if you are using the GUI login as this is part of KDE and might act screwy. example: /tmp/kde-ben /tmp/ksocket-ben /tmp/mcop-ben You can delete the files in /tmp that look like the above example. I always delete these sets of directories and files when I do an upgrade to a new release of KDE. For some reason it doesn't play well with older versions. * DB Troll (hdbtroll@moment.net) [030210 16:24]: ->After upgrading to 3.1 on a 8.0 Pro system I was getting a error on boot ->saying /tmp/mcop-dbtrol ->was not owned by me. Hello Ben, I did delete all of these when doing the upgrade and I do remember a root/.mcop but this file has not been recreated. The only thing I seem to be having a problem with is the File Manager SUM and who owns /tmp/mcop-dbtrol. Thanks David
