You sound right, but maybe it's called something else, or maybe the compare isn't working right. I'd say to chose the "Restore Manually Saved Session", set up your "normal session", save it and then you'll be okay.
That is what I did not want to do. ;-) I hoped the feature I found would work like it should, and that it would be exact what I was looking for. Is this feature working in your kde-setup? Or is just my kde not working? Would be nice to have some feedback, so one could make a bug report.
