I have one more problem with my SuSE KDE, i.e. KDM. WIth KDE 3.0.x there was that nice xconsole-frame below the login field in KDM... Where'd it go? Or even better, how do I get it back?
hello, it is an problem with different expected locations of the kdm config file. SuSE (8.0 on my notebook) placed config files in /etc/opt/kde3/share/config/kdm and combines stuff with xdm. The new KDM of KDE 3.1 expects their config files in /opt/kde3/share/config/kdm . I am not sure about the following but its my opinion: During the installation the new rpm (including the kdm) tries to save the origin settings in a new config file format. Some SuSE related stuff, which was set for xdm, may be lost. Can somebody explain me why SuSE creates config settings to combine kdm and xdm? My recommendation: Make a symbolic link from /etc/opt/kde3/share/config/kdm/kdmrc -> /opt/kde3/share/config/kdm/kdmrc Greetings, Steffen
