Just updated kde on SLED 10 to 3.5.10-54.2 and I now have no X. kdelibs3-3.5.10-54.2
There so no errors indicated in /var/log/XFree86.0.log.
changing into runlevel 5 give the login screen which accepts the name and passwd but the menu items disappear and a blue screen remains with no further action.
startx -- :0 also yields the trm gray screen but no term window is opened and mouse clicks provide nothing.

Seems like something may have borked your displaymanager settings in /etc/sysconfig. Is there a reason you are using entrance rather than kdm? Have you tried startx from init 3? WINDOWMANAGER=fluxbox startx or from init 5 WINDOWMANAGER=fluxbox startx -- :1 replace fluxbox w/ twm or some other manager If another WM works then it will at least be another pointer to the kde update. (Conspiracey theory withheld for brevity) let us know what happens I've seen VERY similar errors trying to run xfce or enlightenment on ubuntu, never could get entrance to work nicely.
