[opensuse-kde] Suggestion to review inotify/kdirwatch fix for backporting to 4.3.4

Currently there's a rather unfortunate problem in KDE 4.3.x where Dolphin, file dialogs etc. don't "automagically" pick up changes (new files, deleted files etc.) done by other apps - apparently cuz of changes to inotify stuff in recent kernels. I think this is fixed here: http://websvn.kde.org/?view=rev&revision=1065898 https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=207361 I wonder if this fix could be reviewed for possible backporting to the 4.3.4 packages. [opensuse-kde] Kickoff menu is flooded with "Recently Installed"

Hi, as topic says my Kickoff menus (all 3 systems) are flooded with "Recently installed" and all contain the same apps (per system) which only change when I install new ones. http://www.freeimagehosting.net/uploads/6a0e389c3a.png I searched in translation strings upstream and did not find the string. But I found it in openSUSE translation (http://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse-translation-de/2008-11/msg00032.html) #: core/applicationmodel.cpp:301 msgid "Recently Installed" msgstr "Vor kurzem installiert" I have had this problem for a few months but forgot reporting it... [opensuse-kde] Question on the Skulpture Theme

Hi all, I'm facing some strange issues with the Skulpture theme on Opensuse 11.2. When I set the Kwin theme to Skulpture type, it gives back borders (http://www.imageping.com/show.php/60782_Skulpture.png.html) Notice the black borders on the Kontact Kwin window and also some black borders on the Dolphin window. I have special effects disabled. Now, if I turn on special effects, I do not see the borders! I've seen this problem with Chakra/Arch Linux...but strangely Mandriva 2010.0 doesn't have this problem. I'm using KDE 4.3.4 from the _43 repo. Can someone help? [opensuse-kde] KDE SC 4.3.4 in KDE:KDE4:STABLE:Desktop; soon in 11.2 online update

The KDE and maintenance teams are taking the unprecedented step of a point release update to KDE SC 4.3.4 in our 'STABLE' repository and from then as an online update to 11.2. Normally we don't do version updates in online updates, preferring to backport patches to the released version. I'll be straight with you; the impetus for doing this comes from putting 4.3.4 on an enterprise product and we don't want to maintain two 4.3 codebases, but we're confident that this is a good thing for openSUSE users, because: - 4.3.4 has 2 months' more upstream bugfixing in it, compared to 4.3.1. This includes a major Plasma performance bug fix. - 4.3.4 is the final planned release in the KDE 4.3 series and will therefore have the longest shelf life. It will be easier to apply future fixes from the KDE 4.3 branch to 4.3.4 packages than to 4.3.1 packages. - having 4.3.4 on an enterprise product gives us additional reasons (customers' money!) to fix bugs in it, benefitting openSUSE users too. - We are aware that any version update has the potential to include regressions, but: - 4.3.4 is a point release with only bugfixes and translation updates - we've seen a lot of use of the KDE:43 repo from 11.2 users without a lot more bugs - other distributions have already shipped 4.3.2 and are going to push point releases as online updates as well We have consulted the openSUSE maintenance team, who were in favour of this move. The online update will take place after a period of testing 4.3.4 on 11.2 in KDE:KDE4:STABLE:Desktop. The sole drawback to this that we're aware of is that this will be a large online update download; we hope you will agree the benefits will be worth it. Season's greetings! [opensuse-kde] Need help my text highlighting has gone

Hi, my text highlighting has stopped working in all kde apps can somebody tell me where to look without having to lose all my other configuration? I'm running 11.2 x86_64 and I updated to kde-4.3.4 recently. I don't know if that is when the highlighting disappeared because I normally suspend to disk so it could be. I've returned my system to stock 11.2 but that hasn't helped neither has any text editor settings. [opensuse-kde] [UNSTABLE] 4.3.86: High network accesses displayed

Hi, first of all: I wish all of you a happy new year. Now the problem: I updated my both systems to 4.3.86 and on both the Network plasmoid displays accesses to the network. One system with ~1100 KiB and the other with ~2200 KiB. With 4.3.85 it was not... Are there any hidden network processes running now? Thanks.
