I and some friends here have already got KDE SC 4.4 RC2 yesterday, and prefer to use it than the "stable" one, even it has some (serious) bugs but we know these risks, and hopefully can then contribute to the community (report bugs, blog about it, etc). I thought openSUSE-KDE Team (we know some of them are upstream developers) recognized the schedule[0] and the announcement[1] was not exactly correct. I also should've asked it to kde-list related. Hi Listmates, It's nice to announce to (local) community what is happening of their Linux distribution's development and finally get more contributors to help it. Now I'm just curious why there were no announcements of the openSUSE 11.3 M1[0] and KDE SC 4.4 RC2 on net? Also, i can see the KDE SC 4.4 RC2 packages on KKFD, but no of openSUSE 11.3 M-1 (it still has openSUSE-release-11.3-1.17). Are they delayed for some reasons? [opensuse-kde] kde not working anymore -- possible dbus-related problems (extreme latency of >1 min to start an application)

Hi all, KDE is no longer working on my system. What happened is, to the best of my memory, (1) yesterday, everything was working fine. I didn't install anything, and shutdown the computer normally (2) today, I forgot to type in my password for /home, which I have mounted with crypto. KDE gets to autologin and fails, saying it's switching HOME to /. This has happened many times before without issue. (3) I do a soft reboot and mount /home. KDE freezes on the splash screen. I can log into GNOME or xfce, and most things work. When I start a KDE application, like dolphin, I get an error, "org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.NoReply". It starts after several minutes. Other applications like Eclipse occasionally freeze (I'm guessing they use dbus less often). I am not subscribed to any factory repositories [1], and the error occurred without any software updates. I tried reinstalling most KDE packages, as well as dbus, without any luck. I'd much like to fix the problem versus reinstalling my system again. [opensuse-kde] Akonadi/Mysql Dependency Issues

Hi, I'm facing a dependency issue with upgrading from a fresh install of KDE 4.3.1 on 11.2 to KDE 4.4 RC1/2. The repositories configured are the usual ones, Main, Non-OSS, Update, Packman, Factory:Desktop and Community_Factory_Desktop. It doesn't allow installation of Kmail due to akonadi dependency issues:- linux-v5wi:/etc/zypp/repos.d # zypper in kmail akonadi Loading repository data... Reading installed packages... Resolving package dependencies... 2 Problems: Problem: nothing provides mysql needed by akonadi-runtime-1.2.90-43.1.i586 Problem: nothing provides mysql needed by akonadi-runtime-1.2.90-43.1.i586 Problem: nothing provides mysql needed by akonadi-runtime-1.2.90-43.1.i586 Solution 1: do not ask to install a solvable providing akonadi Solution 2: break akonadi-runtime by ignoring some of its dependencies Choose from above solutions by number or skip, retry or cancel [1/2/s/r/c] (c): I've seen this issue in atleast 2-3 other Opensuse installs. KDE 4.3.4 upgrade is smooth, its the 4.4 RC upgrades that are facing this problem. What happened to the webkitpart package in 4.4? In the feature plan on techbase.kde.org it says Move KDE integration of QtWebKit into kdelibs (but not KPart!) but I'm not completely sure what that means. Is webkit now integrated into khtml, or is there a setting somewhere to switch to it, or what? [opensuse-kde] Crash in okular from KDE 4.4 RC1 on openSuSE 11.1

Hi list, I'm having trouble with okular from KDE 4.4 RC1 opening some pdf files - I filed a bug about in in the KDE bug database, and in the discussion it has been suggested that this may be a problem with the openSuSE build. It would be nice if some of you who also runs KDE 4.4 RC1 on openSuSE 11.1 could test whether this works for you. The bug description is https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=222231 Also, it has been suggested there that I should update poppler to a newer version - is there a repository for 11.1? Maybe it's time for me to do that update to 11.2 finally!
