[opensuse-kde] Konqueror now crashing under KDE4?

Hello After the last two updates of KDE4 konqueror now crashes for me when starting it (it didn't before). [opensuse-kde] mouse cursor stuck in corner of desktop

Hi all, I am hoping that someone here can help me with a most annoying problem that has developed on my system. I am running openSuSE 10.3 standard install with no updates/patches. The system has been running just fine for many months. I tried installing my old video capture card (Winfast TV2000 XP Expert) to try recording on linux. I was able to get video but no sound (I found out that this is a known problem). After installing this card, my mouse started acting strangely. I could scroll down a page just fine but when I scrolled up with the wheel, it would select text in the page. By going into the mouse setup area, I found that when I scrolled up, the action it was executing was a double-click plus scrolling up. I then removed the capture card since it wasn't working properly anyway figuring that the mouse would go back to normal - no such luck. The mouse is impossible to use now. It "sticks" down in the lower left corner and just by trying to move it, all kinds of things start happening. Many different windows have opened and shut very quickly. My bottom bar is a mess now. I have tried using different mice, different ports, two mice at once, nothing has worked. I even tried booting up with no mouse attached and then plugged one in after it finished booting - same result. I have tried searching google for help and keep coming up empty. If anyone has a suggestion, I am all ears. If I can't figure it out soon, I'm going to have to do a clean install and migrate my data over but would prefer not to do that. I am assuming it is a driver issue but I have not even been able to find out how to remove the current one and install it again. My main experience is in windows with some experience in linux but not at this level. [opensuse-kde] State of KDE 4.0.1. in factory - bug reports or not?

For a short time I had the impression that KDE 4.0.1 would slowly get usably and lose that awkward "beta" feeling. However, the last few days the buggy behaviour is mounting. And I don't really know whether this is related to KDE, the openSUSE factory as a whole, or my installation. So I don't know whether and where to file bug reports. I tried both the standard Factory packages and the RPMs from KDE-Stable repo (BTW - what is the exact difference between these two KDE package sources? The errors are the same). A short list of the bugs of my KDE4 sessions, as I currently remember them: 1. Konqueror4: Has simply been unable to render any web for me page for weeks. Sometimes I get a simple web page, e.g. Google, displayed. But 99,9% Konqui4 times out with an "unknown error". Konqueror/KDE3 and Firefox work fine. 2. Desktop icons (from my, thanks to the user orientation of som KDE developpers, seemingls "deprecated" ~/Desktop-drawer) sometimes "multiply" over and over again with every new start (hundreds of entries in plasmarc). Mouse-over-effects of the desktop icons don't fade out once the mouse is no longer over them. 3. keditbookmarks doesn't display bookmarks, only the bookmark drawers. 4. Switching to a new user session results in the session of the previous user being locked - and it cannot be unlocked, the password is no longer recognized. 5. Konsole and Dolphin cannot be started at all (crash window) - be it by start menu, tray icon or keyboard shortcut. Strange enough, most of the time I can start these apps e.g. from a KDE3-Konsole window.... 6. Plasma crashes pretty often. Sometimes ALT+F2 still works and I can restart "plasma", sometimes not. 7. Very slow. On an athon X2 4400+ and a Geforce 6200, everything takes just a bit too long, it simply feels sluggish. E.g. the "show desktop" plasmoid in the panel takes a few seconds until it shows the desktop. I don't even try to activate desktop effects (though the proprietary Nvidia driver should have all the necessary features activated automatically), as they render the desktop unusable. 8. Both KDE3 and KDE4 seem to feel responsible for removable media in a KDE4 session. 9. Sometimes ~/.kde4 is best removed if KDE4 has messed itself completely up... That's as far as I remember currently, there are many more small things. Question: Bugs, expected behaviour, configuration problem of my setup? Krita's JPEG support is currently missing in the koffice-krita package from the KDE:KDE4:STABLE:Extra-Apps repository because of a libexiv2 package version < 0.16. (Shall such issues be reported via bugzilla or are the these packages in such an early stage, that buzilla is not the proper way?) Hi all We're looking for someone special. I know what you're thinking, it's Valentine's day and we're all sat in an openSUSE IRC meeting with nobody to Kuddle, but that's not what I was meant. Actually, the openSUSE KDE team are looking for a Community Pattern Maintainer to take responsibility for a package pattern that represents the best of the KDE community software in the Build Service. It's a great way to get involved with shaping the distro, so, if you're addicted to finding the latest and greatest KDE software and don't mind editing a bit of XML to share it with the rest of teh world, let us know! Hello List Since one of the latest Upgrades of KDE3 on openSUSE-10.3, KDE use a package called kdebase3-runtime. Since this Package is in use my Screensaver does not start after x/min. If i open the control field of the Screensaver, and set the time again, it works. But only for this session. Next time i log into a KDE Session again the problem is back. Does anybody else notice the same Prob ? [opensuse-kde] KDE4 Quirks: Corrupted panel icons and system-tray launching: Anyone else experiencing?

Hi all, Couple of quirks I've come across in KDE 4.0.1 (OS 10.3), wondering if anyone else is experiencing because I'm trying to determine where to send the bug report, can't find anything existing on BKO or openSUSE bugzilla. 1) My panel has problems rendering icons for non-KDE3/4 applications. When running apps, if they are not KDE3/4 applications (ie. Yast, virtualbox) the icon in the panel will be corrupted (although the app description text will be correct). Sometimes it will be gibberish, sometimes it be another app icon, sometimes it will be a distorted system tray icon, etc. Couldn't see anything about this related to plasma on BKO. My initial uninformed thought was that maybe this has something to do with the widespread use of SVG in KDE4, but then it works for KDE3 apps, so I'm confused. 2) Using kmail/KDE3, when the app is reduced to the system tray, I can't "relaunch" it. If I try to, it is immediately minimized to my task bar, and even clicking on it won't produce a window. If I right click, it shows that "minimize" is selected as an option, and I must manually select "maximize", which opens it maximized, and then I must manually use the un-maximize button (is there a name for it?) to make it a rational size on my desktop. Have only run into this with KMail/KDE3. Other KDE3 systray'd apps seem to work fine when I click on them (ie. kpowersave) when it comes to opening a window. If anyone has experienced these and has a solution, I'd be grateful, but otherwise I guess I should open a bug report, just wondering if I'm "alone" here? Hi, I use mouse by left hand. How can I switch mouse buttons in 10.3? In 10.2 I simply switched buttons in KDE Control center. Now in 10.3 I can not do that. I can not switch mouse buttons even in YAST... Sometimes I give my NB with suse 10.3 and KDE to my wife and then I would like to switch buttons back... Could someone point me how can I accomplish that? Thank you. Hey KDE team, Beagle uses "system-search" as the icon in many of its .desktop files. system-search is an icon in the icon naming spec: http://standards.freedesktop.org/icon-naming-spec/icon-naming-spec-latest.h… Currently rpmlint gives an error because icon-naming-spec icons are not white listed (and beagle doesn't BuildRequires tango although i guess it could) so we do a hack to copy an icon beagle-system-search into the pixmap dir and alter the .desktop files.
