I have (maybe) a simple question that I can find the answer for.
I have a new picture for my background, unfortunately it has the same color as
the labels of my desktop Icons (Trash, ...).
How do I change the color of these Labels?
I have looked far and wide for an answer to this, but to no avail. I have
recently upgraded to SuSE 9.2 from 8.2, and I am trying to get my GPG
passphrase to stay in memory for longer than a couple of minutes, which seems
to be the default. I am using pineentry-qt. In my older version of kmail,
using the now-deprecated plugin, I just set a pgp_timeout=3600 to get an
hour. I am getting royally tired of typing (and mistyping) my passphrase.
Are there any options in the new kmail to allow this? If so, what are they
and what file do they go in?
Thanks for any help...

I'm running SuSE 9.2 with KDE 3.3.0. A couple of weeks ago I ran some Gnome
application, and since then, the Gnome background image and desktop icons are
showing on top of my KDE desktop, even after a complete reboot.
Any ideas how I can get rid of these, and possibly make sure this doesn't
happen again the next time I run a Gnome application?
I am attempting to use the Kipi Plugin for Digikam to archive a photo album to
CD. Everything appears to work normally until k3b starts. Digikam appears
to create the appropriate files, invokes k3b, k3b starts and then immediately
gives me an error message "Cannot open file". I close k3b and digikam states
"k3b completed. Deleting temporary file."
I am using SUSE 9.1 Pro and KDE 3.3.2. Suggestions?
Thanks for any help.

What can be done to make hotsync work?
After I reinstall SuSE 9.2, on my new SATA harddisk, and upgrade kde to
version 3.3.2 level "a", some estrange is happening. Every time I click in a
link that open other Tab or browser a lot of Document Relation tool bar is
open. Even the option Tools/Document Relations/Configure is setting to Never.
There some way to stop this?
pretty much a beginner question but one which is currently getting
I am browsing some .jpg (or some other types) using the 'Personal Files'
House-Icon at the bottom of the screen. As you would expect, it loads
My problem is: it will load the first one or two .jpg images but then it
simply stops. Clicking one of the 'Open With' buttons works fine.
Simply restarting the konq is not enough to get it to open another
couple of images.
The error message on the virtual screen where I issued the 'startx'
looks a lot like this:
konqueror: ERROR:Error in BrowserExtension::actionSlotMap(), Unknown
action : Search provider
This machine has had every SuSE level on it since around 8.0.
The simplest solution is probably to nuke (rename) some configuration
file/directory and force kde to recreate it. Any clues as to which one?
opinions personal, facts suspect.
After boot I have no sound, although present in a previous session. Sound is
on after going to KDE Control Center/Sound System / and clicking apply.

KDE has a nice documentation page at
I would like to know if these documents are available somewhere in
downloadable (eg tgzd html) format. If yes where can I find them?
(I could not find them at ftp.kde.org)
Thanks for the help,
After upgrading my SuSE 9.2 to KDE 3.3.2 I observe some strange behaviour
on new user accounts:
When opening a new konqueror (no matter whether openProfile filemanagement or
webbrowsing) I get on the left side of the konqueror window a toolbar called
"document relations"; to be correct: Dokumentenbeziehungen (Konqueror).
When I open konqueror twice, this tool bar doubles, triples, etc.... !!!!
Until the window is nearly full. I tried to attach a jpg showing this,
but unfortunately the file size is limited to 20.000 bytes.
It is really annoying. Is it a feature or a bug?
It only happens in new user accounts, accounts created under 3.3.1 and before
are not concerned.
Any ideas? Help is welcome..
Thanks and regards,
