[opensuse-kde3] Wifi for newby
Hello All, I'm going on a trip and will use a labtop. I never used labtop! It is a "Compaq Presario C700". I installed Oss 12.2 + OneClick KDE3 on a USB hard disk: wonderfull!. This is what I use (with a lot of fun!) on my desktop. I have problems with WiFi. But I probably did install the necessary because I "see" packets "passing" with knemo. But when I try the connection to a site, Firefox says it can not find its address. Yet I configure DNS server addresses! Otherwise, when I connect the computer via Ethernet (RJ45 cable +), everything works fine. I have only a few hours for a successful connection. I await your advice to use "public" connections… Thank you. Patrick -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde3+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-kde3+owner@opensuse.org

You might have to install compat-wireless and the appropriate driver for your wireless card if it is not already installed. I generally use yast to configure the wireless interface with traditional ifup but I think that networkmanager and its GUI frontend knetworkmanager are better. You might want to read this: http://forums.opensuse.org/english/get-technical-help-here/wireless/410319-g... Also, I think that this is not really a kde3 related question and the opensuse forums are more appropriate: http://forums.opensuse.org/english/get-technical-help-here/wireless/ Gianluca On Tue, 19 Nov 2013, Patrick Serru wrote:
