[opensuse-kde3] Updates broke kicker/pager?
I use 6 virtual desktops in pager. #2 & #3 are where I usually run apps that I don't keep open 24/7. Last night I did zypper dup on 32 bit 11.4 with 4G RAM from runlevel 3. Today I tried running KWrite, LibreOffice Writer & KPdf at various times on #3. These apps are all poorly responsive today (slow painting, slow scrolling). Trying to leave or return to #3 has been problematic (very long delays). Once clicking on the #3 pager page, clicking any of the others subsequently fails to cause a switch, even though the switch to #3 hasn't yet taken place yet, until after a long long delay. Even after closing last open app on #3, quite some time must pass before it is possible for anything else to happen, including opening app starter. Last I looked at top after clicking #3 while on #1, Kicker was showing 63% CPU. Once enough time has passed while on any other page except #3, everything seems to be working normally. Top shows more kfmclient PIDs than all other PIDs put together. What happened to KDE? :~( -- "The wise are known for their understanding, and pleasant words are persuasive." Turns out this apparently has little or nothing to do with #3. I've closed all apps on #3, #4, #5 & #6, and then tried switching to #3 from #1. It switched there immediately to show the correct background image, but Kicker continued to show only the apps running on #1 for approximately a minute after I clicked on a few other pager pages to try to escape back to #1. I logged out, then ran 'init3; init 5' as root on tty3. When I logged back in as $USER, all the painting finished and open apps (Konsole & KSIRC) started right up normally, but an abnormally long delay took place before KTip came up with startup sound. -- "The wise are known for their understanding, and pleasant words are persuasive."
