[opensuse-kde3] Advice Needed on KDE3 Module Choices When Genning
1. kde3-gtk-qt-engine, or kde3-kcm-gtk? I used the second, last gen, and it looks works OK. 2. kdebase3-SuSE-branding-opensuse (pulled in by kdebase3), supplemented (??) by kdebase3-SuSE? -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde3+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-kde3+help@opensuse.org

The first allows you to choose GTK theme to be the same as the Qt3 theme in KDE3. So all the GTK apps to look similar to KDE ones.

From my unlearned eye, so does the second. At least it also has the same GTK Styles and Fonts dialog as the first. But the former's module size in zypper is nearly 4 times that of the second, which is why I asked.

Should I also add kdebase3-SuSE, or just use kdebase3-SuSE-branding-opensuse alone? -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde3+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-kde3+help@opensuse.org

The dialog is the same. But the former has "Qt" theme to choose for GTK apps. Then all your GTK apps will look like KDE3 ones regardless of Qt style you choose.

kdebase3-SuSE includes some SUSE settings such as KDE3 file associations for Firefox, additional Konqueror plugins (and context menus), for example, viewing an .rpm file in Konqueror with a button "install in Yast", the set of desktop icons for default install (with links to SUSE site, help center etc) and Crystal-SUSE icon theme etc. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde3+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-kde3+help@opensuse.org

kde3-gtk-qt-engine is working fine for me in 11.4. Using the LaGaDesk-BlueNight-II gtk theme. I would NOT use kde3-kcm-gtk. I have had problem with that reversing the gtk font colors so you end up with black text on dark gray menus, etc... Plus kde3-gtk-qt-engine is newer than kde3-kcm-gtk. IIRC, that is from a 2007 svn build... -- David C. Rankin, J.D.,P.E. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde3+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-kde3+help@opensuse.org
