Hi David, Thanks for posting your experience with Leap 42.2 and KDE3. Just a curiosity, do you get the crash whether you use text login (runlevel 3) with startx or graphical login (runlevel 5)? Any messages in ~/.xsesssion-error? Please, let us know how it goes. Gianluca On Fri, 23 Dec 2016, David C. Rankin wrote:
Ilya, All,
I've noticed a strange kcrash that occurs on first login to kde. It is repeatable. On 'first' login attempt I experience a kded crash (and it's associated context menus, desktop icons (trash, etc) being gone). If I log out and log in again, all it good. Depending on the severity of the crash, I may have to switch to a console (ctrl + F1) find the pid for X and kill it to restart the x-server. Even then, the second login is flawless.
Does anybody else see this? If so, is there a bug filed for it? (where are the bugs for kde3 tracked?, I don't mind pulling the source and seeing if I can help)
Other than that, kde3 is working very, very well. Just installed the nvidia drivers, worked like a charm. Can't wait to check the build service repos and find who is building compiz 7.8. (I have that for 13.1)
Let me know on the startup crash issue and where the bugs are kept for kde3 and we will see if we can get it solved.
