Maybe, I should re-phrase the question: What alternative do you have to kpowersave in KDE 3.5 on openSUSE 12.2? Thanks, Gianluca On Mon, 25 Feb 2013, Gianluca Interlandi wrote:
Hi!
I have always used kpowersave in KDE3 to check the battery status of my laptop. However, in openSUSE 12.2 it is not working. I have also installed the haldaemon (hal-0.5.14) from the KDE3 repository and started it through yast. However, kpowersave is still not able to read the battery status or provide any other service.
I'm also not entirely sure whether hald is running properly `/etc/init.d/haldaemon status` returns:
redirecting to systemctl haldaemon.service - LSB: HAL is a daemon for managing information about the hardware on the system Loaded: loaded (/etc/init.d/haldaemon) Active: active (exited) since Mon, 25 Feb 2013 18:09:53 -0800; 9min ago Process: 7803 ExecStop=/etc/init.d/haldaemon stop (code=exited, status=0/SUCCESS) Process: 7813 ExecStart=/etc/init.d/haldaemon start (code=exited, status=0/SUCCESS) CGroup: name=systemd:/system/haldaemon.service

Thanks!
