I am using local sshd on my computer, as I have been using it for ages. Besides, the sftp protocol works perfectly under the KDE3 applications at another computer on my home network, which still stay with OpenSUSE 11.2 (except for connecting the upgraded computer). [opensuse-kde3] Slow to open Kontact

Having been quite disgusted by the KDE4 version of KDEPIM, when my hard drive failed, and I replaced it, I did so with Evergreen, or openSuSe 11.1 with KDE3.5. So far mostly everything is working, but KDEPIM or Kontact is very slow to open with more than about 1,000 contact addresses in kaddressbook. Is this something that was addressed with the old kdepim from 3.5.10? All the old KDE3 bugs seem to have been removed from bugzilla so I can't find any reference there. [opensuse-kde3] Can I install KDE3.5 in KDE4?

Recently, I lost my OpenSuse KDE 11.2 install when a hard drive failed very prematurely. I decided to try OpenSuse 11.4 and see if KDEPIM had been fixed yet. It isn't. I think it's basically unusable in the state that it's currently in. Do I need to install KDE 3.5 to install KDE PIM 3.5.10? I'd rather install it in the new version of KDE 4 that come with OpenSuse 11.4. Can I just find an opensuse kede3 repo and install the old version of KDEPIM? Need help from anybody who knows how to remove requirement of unsermake from KDE3 packages. [opensuse-kde3] 11.4 - kcontrol is (empty) and sftp://host:port/path doesn't work - but it looks SOOO GOOD :)

Ilya, Robert: KDE3 Looks really, really good in 11.4. Two issues have surfaced: (1) kcontrol is empty :( http://www.3111skyline.com/dl/suse/bugs/114/kde3/kcontrol-empty.jpg (kcmshell.kcrash included at the end, below) I also have a kcontrol.kcrash from trying to select kthememanager->icons (2) The konqueror sftp://host:port/path/to/file syntax doesn't work in 11.4. I just talked about this with Robert/all on the Trinity list and it appeared fixed in 11.3.
