Oh, that is not a solution for me. I had software raid untill i opted for a raid 10( 4x HDD ) with the 3ware controller. It works just great, but I was wondering about this update. ....question still open.... Hi Andy,

I upgraded a system with a RAID1 array to SuSE 10.0 at the weekend. There was a warning that the new kernel does not support RAID controllers at all and the system needed to be migrated to a software RAID array. Since I had already done this, there was no problem. I would suggest that you look at migrating from hardware to software RAID before you upgrade.

Check out the 9550SX-4LP. I have used all three (8506, 9500, and 9550) and performance gets better with each version.

Same here. Lspci shows it as " 01:01.0 RAID bus controller: 3ware Inc 3ware 7000-series ATA-RAID (rev 01)"

We are also running the 3dm software to monitor the card/RAID set.

I've got one of the 8506 series SATA RAID controllers running the stock 3w-xxxx driver with no problems so far - had more problems finding an XP64 driver for it....

I supose you mean the 3ware 9500S series controllers.

I couldn't find any drivers for suse 9x 64 for the 8506 series.

I have been using 3ware sata raid on two different machines here at work with amd 64 cpu's in them with no problem. suse has the 3ware driver built in for years now. been using 3ware raid cards for years also with no problems. now I am not sure what they cost in EURO's since im in the US.
