I advise going to 9.1 or the recent release of 9.2 for a new install. suse will install the proper smp kernel automatically just continue with your install and when you are done it will show that the smp kernel is being used. do a "less /proc/cpuinfo" to see a least of all CPUs in the system.

Be sure the bios detects 4 CPUs.

I've acquired a computer with four AMD Opteron CPU's on a Celestica
motherboard.  I've installed Suse 9.0 but I don't believe that the
installer recognizes the existence of multiple processors. Where can
I find out about configuring linux to support multiple processors?
I'm new to both this list and to linux.
