[heroes] FYI: monitoring sends out notifications to #opensuse-admin channel
$ubject says it all: I installed a new bot "heroes-bot" in the #opensuse-admin channel on freenode that will get notifications for all monitored machines. I hope the provided information is useful - otherwise please speak up, so we can change it. with kind regards, Lars -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: heroes+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: heroes+owner@opensuse.org

Thanks a lot, really useful! One think we might consider is to filter out what to send on the channel based on the sensitivity of the information (eg we don't want to expose publicly that the X service runs Y version which has a well known public vulnerability) Theo

Another suggestion: how about to send /notify messages instead of normal ones?
Main reason is that they are shown in a different way on the IRC clients (so
they don't get mixed with normal messages), and we can do other cool stuff in
the future like sending the last 5 /notify messages when specific people join
the channel.

Fine with me. I would change it directly, but I am currently unable to log in to the monitoring server. So this has to wait until you fixed the services after your IP move. Lars

Well: if we trust our distribution and especially our packagers, this should never happen. Right? Lars
