I forgot a question. In Your e-mail You wrote: We are going to support the hamlib project as good as we can". Please tell me more about that project, or where I can fin more informations.

Well, you have the choice between the pure client operation (Xastir) and
the mixed server/client operation with aprsd and Xastir. We have a running
aprsd server here but nobody finds the time to connect it to the existing
packet radio network in DL. While there is some local APRS action
spreaded over Germany / Europe it lacks a coordination within a country
or international.

I would like to see more ham applications being ported to Linux or perhaps
newly developed but it seems that most of the hams out there still like
their MS-OS better than Linux. Perhaps we can change that in future but it
will take some time. A student is writing an application for the SCS
PTC-II here at SuSE, just as a first step into the right direction. We are
going to support the hamlib project as good as we can. But all that is not
enough as long as all of the remaining software only is available for
MS.
