Hi Andy, Thank you for clarifying this. I thought 'SUSE Moblin' mostly was a 'standard Moblin 2.1' Suse-fied with some SLED look&feel and applications for Atom Netbooks different from Goblin as an optional Moblin desktop (Moblin UI) for the complete openSUSE. If I understand you right, the available Moblin UI repos here are not ready for 11.2 and Factory yet(?) http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/Moblin://UI/openSUSE_11.2/ http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/Moblin://UI/openSUSE_Factory/ As a member of the openSUSE Testing Core Team, I will be more than happy to test also Goblin as far as it becomes ready for some 11.3 Milestone/Factory, or on 11.2 before that. Rgds, Terje
Hi Terje,
SUSE Moblin is pretty much identical to Goblin, other than it is based on SLED11 as you mentioned but also includes some added value features specific to the respective hardware vendors. I can't tell you exactly what as I don't know the specifics myself :-)
Goblin is progressing, all be it at a. Slightly slower pace than one would like. Currently Goblin is effectively based on 11.1 which involved a lot of patches etc, there is an effort underway to rebase everything on at least 11.2 if not Factory. This takes time and effort and is progressing.
As for installing it, the plan is to have the Moblin UI available in Factory and as a result in 11.3, we also aim to have hybrid ISO images just like the GNOME & KDE live CDs. All I can say is have patience. If you would like to help in the effort by all means come and join the fun.
Regards,
Andy

Hi,
SUSE Moblin has been announced and reported was demonstrated at the 2010 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) with partners MSI and Samsung. Products will be available in February 2010. http://www.novell.com/promo/lp/moblin.html
As I understand, SUSE Moblin is based on Moblin and SLED11. I wonder if SUSE Moblin is (will be) available as a free distro for download, or if there is an equivalent project based on openSUSE beside?
As SUSE Moblin ought to be quite ready on MSI, I wonder if SUSE Moblin is more mature than Goblin currently for openSUSE 11.2/11.3/Factory here http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/Moblin://UI/
