[opensuse-gnome] gnome-panel slowness?
I am experiencing a rather weired slowness with gnome-panel in 10.3. Every program launched from a gnome-panel applet takes ages to start up compared to running it from a desktop "shortcut" or terminal. About 10 seconds more to be more precise. I initially thought it's just main-menu being slow, but it's not. I can also see it in other applets. Does anyone experience something similar? P.S: I have opened a bug https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=335590 -- Ivan N. We had a bug in gnome-session that caused 5-10 second delays when launching applications. Have you updated with all the patches? Also, if you open a terminal and ping your machine name, can it resolve the name? If not, then you could try to add your machine name to /etc/hosts (to the 127.0.0.1 line). I think so, check it out: rpm -qa gnome-session gnome-session-2.20.0-8

I am able to ping my machine name and in my /etc/hosts I have 127.0.0.1 localhost 127.0.0.2 magrathea.site magrathea where "magrathea" is my machine's name. Is that okay? You are saying that the name should be bound to 0.1 but it's bound to 0.2 here?
Cheers, Magnus

Seems to be working fine today. Probably got automagically fixed :-) -- Ivan N. Zlatev Web: http://www.i-nZ.net "It's all some kind of whacked out conspiracy." -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-gnome+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-gnome+help@opensuse.org
